About Us
Teams Life Centre workforce is a combination of paid staff and volunteers, most of whom are local people who know the area well, have lived experience of many common issues and really help to inform our decisions on what local people need. We have 18 regular volunteers many of which are young adults with additional needs who we train to give them not just work experience but to build self confidence and find a place in community. All our staff attend regular training sessions on safeguarding, customer service, first aid training and health and safety.
History
Our building has been serving the community for over 50 years. Originally Teams Community Centre, it was asset transferred by Gateshead Council to Dunston Family Church (our sister charity) in 2014. Teams Life Centre have become a charity in our own right in 2024 and are firmly rooted in the local community.

Development and Impact
During Covid we worked closely with Gateshead Council to provide support for local people. This really informed our future plans and our 3 year business plan and Theory of change reflects our commitment to real change in our community. Our plans have to be threefold in order to look after everything and everyone our care:-
- Making sure our building is safe and welcoming to all our users
- Making sure our staff and volunteers are well looked after and trained for their respective roles
- Making sure the services we provide are what is needed, make a difference to individuals and promote a feeling of wellbeing and community spirit.
